About Me

Kevonne Dawson, MD, was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at the University of the West Indies, Mona campus. He spent three years serving the population of Manchester, Jamaica in both primary care clinics and the hospital setting, including orthopedic surgery.

Having a mother who worked in healthcare, Dr. Dawson became intrigued by the stethoscope from an early age and often practiced auscultation on himself and his siblings as a young boy. With a passion for serving others and a desire to have a positive impact in society, Dr. Dawson felt that medicine would be the most rewarding and noble profession for him. While practicing, Dr. Dawson found that family medicine allowed him to properly address the biopsychosocial factors affecting patient care, which ultimately lead to better patient outcomes. He is thrilled to be a part of the Tallahassee Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program and looks forward to serving the communities of North Florida. He is passionate about health education and promotion and has an interest in Sports Medicine, sparked by his work experience in orthopedics.

Also known as the “Lyrikaldoctor,” Dr. Dawson is often seen writing and recording reggae/dancehall music in his spare time. He is a self-proclaimed chef, specializing in Jamaican cuisine. Kevonne is married to fellow resident, Dr. Nicole Mignott-Dawson and similarly enjoys hosting events and bonding with family and friends over food. Dr. Dawson enjoys cycling, playing basketball and soccer, and he treasures evening walks at the park with his wife and three-year-old son.
