About Me
Born and raised in a small Floridian beach city with the motto of Space, Sun and Sea, Dr. Srividya Kannan is the first physician in her family and is excited to be training in and learning from the community of Tallahassee and TMH. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Miami, majoring in Microbiology and Immunology, and minoring in Sports Medicine and Psychology. During her time there, she served in several leadership roles including President of the Microbiology Club, a Counseling Outreach Peer Educator and Global Brigadier on a medical outreach trip to Nicaragua.
Driven by her passion for medicine and a desire to explore different healthcare systems, Dr. Kannan embarked on an international “global scholars” program at SGU in the United Kingdom and Grenada. This experience allowed her to gain a global perspective on healthcare and understand the diverse needs of patients. Building upon this international foundation, she continued her medical journey in the United States, completing clinical rotations in various hospitals across California, South Florida and New York.
Growing up witnessing first-hand how barriers to healthcare result in unmet needs, she realized there are no limits when there is access, and so her passion grew for advancing health equity and social justice. While completing her medical education, Dr. Kannan used her spare time to volunteer and advocate for better resources, education, opportunity and a better understanding of the value and utility of the cochlear implant for children in deaf schools in south India. Outside medicine, she enjoys spending time being a foodie with her husband, playing with her Corgi named Kennebec, indulging in photography, traveling, hiking, writing lyrical pieces of work and playing soccer and badminton.
Dr. Kannan is grateful to be a part of the TMH family and is eager to build upon her medical experience to one day provide patient-centered, full-spectrum care incorporating her passions of advocacy, preventative medicine, women’s health and global health medicine.
