Bringing Expert Care to Tallahassee

Meet Shlermine Everidge, MD, a Florida State University College of Medicine graduate, who spent a year dedicated to advanced breast cancer surgery training at the prestigious M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Now she’s back and bringing the latest advancements in breast cancer treatment to the Tallahassee Memorial Walker Breast Program. With the region’s only fellowship trained breast surgical oncologist, TMH patients receive expert cancer care without having to travel far from home.

The Walker Breast Program

The Walker Breast Program is Florida’s longest continuously accredited comprehensive community hospital cancer program and the Big Bend region's only accredited breast program by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). The Walker Breast Program provides patients in the Big Bend region personalized, comprehensive and compassionate care for breast health. Offering a wide range of services, patients have access to advanced screenings for preventive care, diagnostics and testing, state-of-the-art treatments, as well as breast health education and support programs, all conveniently located on TMH’s campus.

Bringing Integrated Treatment to You

The Walker Breast Program’s multidisciplinary Breast Clinic, located at the Tallahassee Memorial Cancer Center, streamlines weeks of appointments into a single visit.

This compressed timeline means patients receive treatment faster by bringing all of the medical experts together in a single location to create an integrated treatment plan customized to each patient’s unique case. The multidisciplinary Breast Clinic is the newest expansion of the Walker Breast Program and brings a care model to Tallahassee that is typically only seen at nationally-recognized cancer hospitals.

Mammography Clinic

The Sharon Ewing Walker Mammography Clinic is the only program in the Big Bend region recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and accredited by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC).

We offer a full array of diagnostic services for the detection breast cancer, including 3D mammography. With early detection, breast cancer can be caught sooner. This means a better chance of remission and survival.

The team at Tallahassee Memorial has adopted the American College of Radiology Breast Imaging guidelines to provide direction to patients and clinicians on the use of imaging to screen and evaluate breast disease.

Should something concerning appear on your mammogram, our experienced breast surgeons at TMH Physician Partners – General Surgery are able to perform breast biopsies (both stereotactic and ultrasound-guided).
