TMH has once again earned reaccreditation from The Joint Commission by demonstrating compliance with the commission’s national standards for healthcare quality and safety in hospitals.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024) – Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) has once again received three-year reaccreditation from The Joint Commission, the nation’s leading quality improvement and accrediting body. The Joint Commission accreditation recognizes TMH’s commitment to providing safe and quality patient care.
“Accreditation from The Joint Commission is viewed as the gold seal of approval in healthcare,” says President & CEO, Mark O’Bryant. “This accreditation underscores the exceptional, high-quality care that our colleagues provide to patients throughout our healthcare system.”
TMH underwent a rigorous, unannounced onsite review in September 2024 to assess processes and practices to ensure the safety of our patients, colleagues and visitors. For four days, our system was highly scrutinized by 10 Joint Commission surveyors with varying backgrounds and expertise. Surveyors evaluated TMH’s compliance with standards that spanned emergency management, environment of care, infection prevention and control, leadership, medication management and rights and responsibilities of the individual. The surveyors also conducted onsite observations and interviews.
"We are extremely proud of the survey results," says Vice President and Chief Improvement Officer, Jana Iezzi-Tumblin. "The outcome is incredibly impressive for any organization, but particularly a healthcare system as large and complex as TMH."
The Joint Commission’s standards are developed in consultation with health care experts and providers, measurement experts and patients. They are informed by scientific literature and expert consensus to help health care organizations measure, assess and improve performance.
This accreditation is valid through September 2027.
