TMH Received LifeQuest Award of Excellence for Organ Donation at Event Tuesday, April 1

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Tuesday, April 1, 2025) – On Tuesday, April 1, Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) received the LifeQuest Award of Excellence for its commitment to honoring organ donation and for implementing best practices to increase the number of lives saved through organ donation. For the second consecutive year, TMH was the number-one donor hospital in LifeQuest’s 36 county region covering north Florida. In 2024, 37 organ donors provided life-saving transplants to 106 recipients.

LifeQuest Hospital Development Coordinator Janet Shipman presented TMH President & CEO Mark O’Bryant with the Award of Excellence at the annual Donate Life flag-raising ceremony to honor those who gave the Gift of Life through organ, tissue and eye donation.

In addition to the flag-raising, the event featured donation stories from Andy Dawson, father of organ donor Chandler Dawson; Suzanne Conner, wife of organ, tissue & eye donor Bryant Conner and a cornea recipient herself; and Casana Fink, Miss Florida and daughter of a liver recipient.

Suzanne Walker-Assad, TMH Director of Critical Care and Donor Council Chair, provided the welcome and directed the flag raising event. Tallahassee Memorial Music Therapy performed and Spiritual Care Director Wendy Wyche led a prayer honoring those who have donated, received or are awaiting donations.

April is National Donate Life Month to help encourage Americans to register as organ, eye and tissue donors and to honor those who have saved lives through the gift of donation. You can learn more about organ, tissue and eye donation and register today at DonateLifeFlorida.org.
