TMH Recognized For Safety & Quality In Cardiovascular Care

TMH’s Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Achieves Accreditation by the American College of Cardiology  

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Wednesday, March 26, 2025) — The American College of Cardiology (ACC) has granted accreditation to the Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, recognizing its commitment to high-quality cardiovascular care. The accreditation follows a comprehensive review by the ACC, which determined that TMH met rigorous quality and safety standards. 

The process highlighted outstanding collaboration between TMH and the prestigious physicians of Southern Medical Group – leaders in cardiovascular care in North Florida for over 30 years. Interventional Cardiologist Thomas Noel, MD, was a key figure in preparing the Cath Lab for the accreditation.

“We take an interdisciplinary approach to quality that involves commitment from every level of the organization – from executive leadership to physicians to each clinical colleague. This accreditation reflects the hard work of a large team, and I’m incredibly proud of our achievement,” said Dr. Noel. 

The accreditation also recognizes TMH’s innovative educational efforts, particularly in ensuring that all staff are consistently trained on the latest techniques and procedures in the management of cardiac patients.

TMH has four cardiac catheterization laboratory rooms, which are sterile rooms for procedures and tests that use catheters to diagnose and treat cardiovascular problems. In 2024, TMH performed over 3,300 procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory, including the groundbreaking LimFlow procedure that reconnects blood flow for patients at risk of amputation.

Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare (TMH) has earned prestigious recognition from the American College of Cardiology (ACC) as an Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI and Resuscitation—the highest accreditation level for chest pain centers. Additionally, TMH has received the ACC’s Transcatheter Valve Certification, highlighting its expertise and dedication in performing transcatheter valve repair and replacement procedures.

These multiple ACC accreditations underscore TMH's ongoing commitment to performance improvement, clinical quality, and patient safety, ensuring that the healthcare system remains a leader in cardiovascular care for the Big Bend region.
