Gates Scott, DO

Steven “Gates” Scott was born and raised in Montgomery, AL before moving to Washington State for his undergraduate education. He attended Washington State University and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and molecular biology. Gates then returned to Alabama to complete his medical education at Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine where he was inducted in the Sigma Sigma Phi honor society. During medical school, Gates developed a passion for medical education and served as a tutor for first-year medical students, a teaching assistant, and was involved in several quality improvement teams for preclinical coursework.  

Within family medicine, Gates has particular interest in chronic disease management, preventative medicine, HIV medicine, and providing equitable care for underserved and marginalized communities, particularly the LGBT+ community.

Outside of medicine, Gates enjoys spending time with family, exploring culture through food, maintaining an active lifestyle, and traveling.
