About Me
(George) Patton Pennington II, MD joined Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare in 2021 and serves as a clinical leader and dedicated trauma surgeon in TMH’s trauma program. With a strong focus on providing comprehensive care for patients with traumatic injuries, Dr. Pennington’s passion for trauma surgery began during his surgical residency at Louisiana State University (LSU). He further honed his expertise by completing a Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at the University of South Carolina.
In addition to his work in trauma surgery, Dr. Pennington is a general surgeon and serves as the Interim Program Director for the FSU College of Medicine General Surgery Residency Program at TMH. He also collaborates with the surgical team at Doctors’ Memorial Hospital, a rural affiliate in Taylor County, to provide care to residents.
Dr. Pennington was drawn to TMH and the Tallahassee community since his wife and him are from the South Georgia and North Florida region. Outside of work, Dr. Pennington enjoys hunting, working out, cheering on his favorite college sports teams and spending time with his wife, Erika, and their three daughters.
