Giovana Charite, MD

Giovana N. Charite, MD, hails from the quaint settlement of Smith’s Point, Freeport, Grand Bahama, where she spent her early years before relocating to Nassau for much of her upbringing. 

Being a second-generation physician, Dr. Charite was deeply influenced by her father's steadfast dedication to his patients. Witnessing his unwavering commitment and vigor firsthand ignited her passion for medicine. She laid the groundwork for her journey by pursuing her undergraduate studies in Biological Sciences at South Dakota State University. Subsequently, she earned her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of the West Indies Trinidad campus, concluding her studies at the Bahamas campus, where she was honored with the esteemed Dr. Cecil M Bethel Award for the Most Outstanding Student - Class of 2021. Upon graduation, Dr. Charite returned to Grand Bahama, where she worked in the Internal Medicine department at The Rand Memorial Hospital.

Dr. Charite's interest in Family Medicine blossomed early on, influenced by the enduring bonds her father formed with his patients. Throughout her medical education, she reveled in the diversity of treating patients spanning various ages and medical needs. Her time at The Rand Memorial Hospital underscored the significance of nurturing enduring connections, confirming her dedication to specializing in Family Medicine.

Embarking on her professional journey at Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare fills Dr. Charite with enthusiasm and purpose. She eagerly anticipates serving Tallahassee's diverse population, aspiring to positively impact lives and enhance the well-being of the community.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Charite treasures moments with her family, particularly her spirited three-year-old daughter. She loves traveling, occasionally indulges in retail therapy and finds solace within the pages of a captivating novel.
