About Me
Having grown up on a farm in rural Appalachia, Dr. Standridge always planned on pursuing a medical career that involved taking care of under resourced communities. During medical school at East Tennessee State University Quillen College of Medicine he completed the rural training track and went West to complete his residency in Family Medicine at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colorado. While in residency he both served as Chief Resident and was awarded the David Bates Award for excellence in Family Medicine. After residency, Dr. Standridge has had a varied and exciting career in Family Medicine. Starting out he worked as a full spectrum Family Physician in the mountains of North Carolina, including obstetrics and running a mobile medical clinic for local migrant agricultural workers. Seeking a diversity of experience, he then went on to work at a faith based FQHC in inner-city Chicago for a year. The combination of a growing family, the promise of warmer weather and a wife from North Florida eventually enticed the Standridge family to settle in Tallahassee in 2011. Dr. Standridge initially joined TMH Physician Partners at their Wakulla office, a certified Rural Health Center, and after 6 years took over as the Medical Director of the Southwood Physician Partners location in Tallahassee. Throughout his career he served as a mentor for medical students and was awarded the Mission Model Award by the Florida State College of Medicine Tallahassee campus in 2017. Having long considered a career in academics he joined the faculty at the TMH Family Medicine Residency in 2022. He is excited to train the next generation of Family Physicians and to equip them to be leaders in their communities.
His clinical interests include Point of Care Ultrasound, Behavioral Health and Motivational Interviewing, Medical Humanities and a passion for the importance and role of Family Physicians in our healthcare system. He and his wife Dana have four wonderful children. Outside of medicine he loves to be outdoors, hiking, running, or on the water sailing or kayaking. An avid reader and cook, he is always looking for a good book and his next meal.
