About Me
Nicole Mignott-Dawson, MD, was born in Kingston, Jamaica but grew up in the rural parish of Westmoreland. She enjoyed assisting her mother in outreach projects, and this sparked a passion for helping others. At an early age, Dr. Mignott-Dawson decided she wanted to pursue a career in medicine after the sudden passing of her father. She attended the University of West Indies, Mona Campus, where she earned a Bachelor of Medical Sciences and a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. This is also where she met her husband, Dr. Kevonne Dawson.
After completing her studies, Dr. Mignott-Dawson returned to rural Jamaica where she worked for three years providing care to the underserved population. During this time, she realized she was able to connect with patients of all age groups, and she loved the diversity each interaction provided. Dr. Mignott-Dawson found that working in primary care gave her the perfect opportunity to cultivate long lasting physician-patient relationships. Her interactions with multiple generations within the same family instilled in her that the value of a physician is measured by the level of compassion for and empathy toward others. She is excited about being in a program that will foster her growth and allow her to be an impactful doctor across a multitude of communities.
Dr. Mignott-Dawson is passionate about women’s health, health promotion and health disparity. She has been involved in quality improvement projects and committees dedicated to improving the healthcare system in Jamaica. She hopes to continue working to achieve the healthcare reform that is needed in our communities.
Outside of medicine, Nicole values spending quality time with her family. She loves planning and hosting events, making people laugh, swimming, cycling and having a good living room dance-off with her toddler.
