About Me
Dr. Russell Cole was born in Marietta, Georgia, and grew up in nearby Kennesaw. He started college at Young Harris College in the mountains of north Georgia and progressed on to the University of Georgia (UGA), where he was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Ecology in 1998. He subsequently earned a Master of Science in Human and Animal Toxicology at UGA (ask him about the behavior of the nematode Caenorhabditis elegans), and his medical degree at Emory University School of Medicine in 2007.
Dr. Cole went on to his residency at the McLennan County Family Medicine Residency in Waco, Texas. He then spent almost five years in solo family practice in Huntsville, Alabama, before moving to Tallahassee to join the residency.
The opportunity to return to academic medicine along with family in Tallahassee and North Florida attracted Dr. Cole to relocate here. He and his wife Sandy (a “triple Dawg” with three degrees from UGA) have a delightful daughter. They enjoy being involved in their church, walking on the extensive trail system available in Tallahassee and kayaking the beautiful rivers in the area.
