About Me
Trinity Belgrave, MD, MS, was born and raised in Trinidad and Tobago. She attended the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut where she completed undergraduate and graduate studies in biology and human nutrition, respectively. Her medical school training was completed at the University of the West Indies Faculty of Medicine Mona, Jamaica (UWI) where she graduated with honors.
Dr. Belgrave cites a lifelong interest in medicine and recalls childhood memories of traveling with her mother, a doctor and her first mentor, to rural health centers during school vacations. It was during this time that Dr. Belgrave first developed an interest in primary care and began to recognize its critical role in the delivery of health care.
During her time in Bridgeport, Dr. Belgrave was a member of the university women’s soccer team. A staff member for the student newspaper from her freshman year, she served first as sports editor and then as editor-in-chief during her junior and senior years with the publication. Dr. Belgrave also received the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports-Scholar Award in her sophomore year for her accomplishments in the classroom and on the field as a student athlete. For her contributions to the university community, Dr. Belgrave was recognized, in her junior year, with the university’s Student Leadership Dean’s award and the Student Leadership Award For Contributions By A Senior the following year. She also received the Women’s Soccer Scholar Athlete award in her senior year and the University of Bridgeport Capstone Writing Prize for her senior thesis.
Dr. Belgrave served as Director of the Standing Committee on Public Health for the Jamaican Medical Students Association (JAMSA) while completing her medical training at UWI. In this role, she attended the International Federation of Medical Students Association’s Annual General Meeting in Montreal as a JAMSA representative. During her tenure as director, she organized several events focused on bringing awareness to, and encouraging healthy lifestyle practices within the general university community.
After graduation Dr. Belgrave served as an intern at the Port of Spain General Hospital and the Eric Williams Medical Complex in Trinidad and Tobago. After completing internship, she worked first in the Department of Ear Nose and Throat and subsequently in The Accident and Emergency Department. She served as volunteer medical staff at the 2016 Pan American Cycling Championships hosted in Trinidad and Tobago.
Dr. Belgrave is excited to join the Tallahassee Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program and have the opportunity to work alongside faculty and fellow residents who share a passion for primary care.
An ardent lover of the outdoors, in her spare time Dr. Belgrave enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking, baking and traveling.
