Which Location Should You Visit?
Bixler Trauma & Emergency Center
The Bixler Trauma & Emergency Center is the only Level II Trauma Center in the Big Bend Region. We hold the title of North Florida's only Comprehensive Stroke Center with the highest designation for heart attack care, as a Chest Pain Center with PCI (Percutaneous Coronary Intervention).
When to Visit
- Signs of a stroke
- Poisoning (first, call the Florida Information Poison Control Center at 800-222-1222)
- Profuse bleeding that does not stop after 10 minutes of direct pressure
- Major injuries, including head trauma or amputation
- Unexplained stupor, drowsiness or disorientation
- Coughing or vomiting blood
- Severe or persistent vomiting, dehydration, shortness of breath and fainting
- Depression with suicidal or homicidal feelings
Emergency Center - Northeast
The TMH Emergency Center - Northeast, is one of our newer facilities offering the same inclusive services as the main hospital. This emergency center located in one of the most heavily populated areas of Tallahassee, boasts an exclusive emergency room for children.
When to Visit
- Shortness of breath
- Child with a fever despite over-the-counter medications
- A severe or worsening reaction to an insect bite or medication
- Sudden, severe pain
- Chest pain
- Orthopedic injuries such as broken bones or sprained ankles
- Cuts or injuries that are bleeding despite direct pressure or that may need stitches
