The Tallahassee Memorial Thoracic Oncology Clinic is the region’s only multidisciplinary collaborative care team that aims to expedite care for patients with suspected lung cancer or other thoracic cancers.
What Is Thoracic Cancer?
Thoracic Cancer refers to any cancer within the organs, glands or structure of your chest – also known as your thoracic cavity. One of the most common thoracic cancers is lung cancer, but thoracic cancer can include small cell or non-small cell lung cancer, mesothelioma, tracheal cancer and other tumors or malignancies within your thoracic cavity or chest wall.
What to Expect
At the Tallahassee Memorial Cancer Center, we aim to provide our patients the most comprehensive and streamlined thoracic cancer care in the region.
A team of specialists led by Carlos Campo, MD – which includes pulmonologists, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists and other medical providers – come together every other Thursday to review each referred case and create an individualized care plan for each patient they review.
Each patient is then invited to meet with our Thoracic Oncology Clinic team to discuss and learn about their proposed care plan. This condenses weeks of appointments and planning into one day, at one location.
If a patient chooses to move forward with their care plan at the Tallahassee Memorial Cancer Center, our Thoracic Oncology Navigator will coordinate appointments, diagnostics and procedures for the patient, creating a seamless experience for the patient and caregivers alike.
How to Schedule an Appointment
If you suffer symptoms of or suspect you may have a form of thoracic cancer, please speak with your primary care provider. If you’ve been diagnosed with thoracic cancer, ask your provider about a referral to the Tallahassee Memorial Thoracic Oncology Clinic or call our Cancer Center directly at 850-431-4226.
