Pharmacy Residency Requirements
The PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare is an ASHP-accredited 12-month post-graduate training program, geared to provide in-depth experiences in the following pharmacy areas: ambulatory care, internal medicine, acute care, practice management, and research. The curriculum provides the resident with a multitude of opportunities to develop skills in pharmaceutical care, pharmacotherapy, and pharmacy leadership.
Program Specifics
- Positions available: Three
- Annual Stipend: $44,000 (once licensed as a pharmacist in the State of Florida)
- Benefits: health insurance, sick leave, paid vacation, and professional travel reimbursement
Basic Requirements
- The applicant must possess a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- All residents are required to be a licensed pharmacist in the state of Florida by July 1st of their residency.
Required Residency Activities
The resident will be required to complete and participate in all of the following to successfully complete the program:
- The resident will participate in a 4-week Orientation experience.
- Quality Improvement/Research Project
- Design methodology, conduct research, and analyze data related to pharmacy-relevant topics
- Prepare a manuscript suitable for publication
- Present project poster at ASHP Midyear
- Attend and present research project at the Florida Residency Conference
- Medication Utilization Evaluation
- Present at the appropriate medical staff committee meeting
- Formulary Review
- Presented to the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee or appropriate medical staff committee
- Education & Professional Development
- Present a one-hour continuing education program to the Capital Society of Health-System Pharmacists
- Present one Lunch and Learn to the Pharmacy Department
- Participate is Didactic topic discussions
- Attend the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting & Exhibition
- Complete weekend and evening staffing (every 4th weekend, one evening per week, one major holiday)
- Participate in required committee meetings
- Participate in recruitment efforts of the program, including but not limited to, the ASHP Midyear Residency Showcase, virtual showcases, etc.
